Puzzle as 500 boxes of textbooks abandoned in forest

Police in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances under which hundreds of boxes of textbooks were abandoned in the middle of the road inside Kaptagat Forest on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

In an update by the National Police Service(NPS), the authorities say about 500 boxes of Government textbooks for Junior Secondary Schools(JSS) that were destined for Nyamira North and Nyamira South were abandoned along Kaptagat Kaptarakwa Murram Road inside the forest.

According to the police, the vehicle ferrying the books is believed to have been hijacked before the culprits offloaded the books and took off with the vehicle.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the motor vehicle carrying the books might have been hijacked and hijackers offloaded the books and left with the motor vehicle,” police noted.

The matter remains under investigation.
